Educational Travel for Seniors

This week’s Educational Travel for Seniors Tour takes us to San Miguel de Allende , Mexico

San-Miguel-de-Allende Grab your spouse, notify your favourite senior travel club, other elderly travel friends, and take an educational travel trip for seniors that can never be matched by just sightseeing anywhere.

Art schools scattered throughout the Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende, narrow cobblestone streets and colonial architecture provides a warm welcoming atmosphere for over 100,000 visitors each year. No modern buildings here – they won’t allow neon signs or anything else that is typically found in most modern North American cities. Its 85,000 residents include over 8,000 Canadians and Americans who enjoy the mild climate and ongoing art workshops offered year round.

It won’t matter whether you arrange the trip for a single senior traveler or senior travel group, there will be something of interest for everyone.

Ceramics Workshops: Attending a ceramics workshop will be fun since you will get your hands dirty while working with clay creating something exceptional.

Digital Photography and Photoshop: Arrange for a personalized hour of training with an experienced instructor who will teach you about digital media.

Traditional Mexican Weaving: Have you always wanted to know about looms? Then this is the place for you. You will learn how to set up the loom and prepare the material in the mesh (warping). The process of using the sheep’s wool from the local ranches and understanding shearing, backcombing and spinning before you blend it to create the required tone is also part of this interesting class.

Basic & Experimental Sculpture: What a great opportunity to craft something fantastic using all kinds of material ~ whether it’s metal, stone or objects found on the street. Get ready to create an amazing piece of art!

Writer’s Workshops: Gain confidence in your own ability while you learn how to write your own personal story from an experienced writing instructor.

Drawing & Painting: From learning basic drawing techniques to having your art critiqued by an expert ~ it’s all possible here.

Traditional Cooking: Learn how to make authentic Mexican dishes that will amaze your family back home.

San Miguel de Allende has two international airports close by for easy access. However, if you wish to see more of Mexico, I suggest you fly into Mexico City and ride one of the many buses available for an interesting four hour scenic trip to your destination. There are always senior travel deals that can be found anywhere in the world and it is very difficult to decide which opportunity we should take advantage of.

If one city offers many different prospects for learning it should definitely be considered by both senior groups and the single senior travel. San Miguel de Allende is that place.
